GamesBeat - The Big Show Podcast

This project documents GamesBeat’s The Big Show podcast at Convene in San Francisco. The shoot combines live podcast coverage with editorial portraits of guests, hosts, and industry participants, creating a consistent image library for press and social publishing around the conference.

The audience includes founders, executives, tech teams, gaming industry leaders, speakers, and conference attendees.

What we covered

  • Live podcast conversations and guest interviews

  • Individual editorial portraits of podcast guests

  • Host-and-guest portraits

  • Small group portraits

  • Branded environmental shots featuring The Big Show set

  • Candid expressions and interactions between recordings

  • Horizontal and vertical compositions for different publishing formats

Process

The Big Show set already has a strong visual identity: a dark branded backdrop, warm orange seating, and graphic color running through the space. We work within that environment rather than separating the portraits from it.

A controlled soft-light setup keeps skin tones clean and consistent while preserving the character of the set. We move between live recording coverage and short portrait sessions, giving guests enough direction to feel comfortable without making the photographs look overly staged.

The result is a mix of polished portraits and documentary frames that still feel like part of the same visual story.
